Ian is an attorney with 10 years of experience in intellectual property litigation and consulting.

He is a graduate of Universidad La Salle and has several courses and certifications related to patents, trademarks, and copyrights, taught by the World Intellectual Property Organization. He also completed a diploma course on Amparo Trial, given by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.

Experience

Throughout his professional career, he has advised domestic and foreign companies to obtain, protect and enforce trademarks, patents, trade secrets and other intellectual property rights in Mexico and abroad, including the stages of registration, preservation and enforcement of intellectual property rights. He focuses his practice on administrative litigation related to the defense of intellectual property rights, such as patent and trademark infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, misleading advertising and copyright infringement.

From an early age, he collaborated in one of the most recognized law firms in Mexico, where he focused his practice in the litigation area.

He has extensive experience in the treatment of trademark portfolios whose origin is related to the use of the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, as a global protection tool.

Likewise, he has been involved in arbitration proceedings of international disputes related to domain names.

As a lawyer specialized in intellectual property litigation, he has been able to advise clients from various industries in the defense of their intellectual property rights, either in the implementation of preventive actions, as well as in the design of contentious strategies in defense of their intellectual assets.

 

  • Actively participated in the preparation and execution of the legal strategy initiated against a publishing company, in defense of the image rights of a renowned sports journalist, achieving as a sanction for non-compliance with a provisional measure ordered by the authority, the temporary closure of its corporate offices.

  • Advised one of the most prestigious law firms in New York, in the protection and defense of its intellectual property assets in Mexico, obtaining the notorious trademark estimation.

  • Advised a European company belonging to the food supplement industry in obtaining trademark protection in Mexico, against several actions filed by the International Olympic Committee to avoid it.
